F1 starting grid: What is the grid order for the 2024 British Grand Prix?

Following qualifying, the starting grid for the 2024 British Grand Prix F1 has been set.

The F1 starting grid has been put in place following qualifying for the British Grand Prix at Silverstone on Saturday.

Before the session started, it was confirmed that Pierre Gasly from Alpine would begin at the back of the grid due to a complete power unit change. However, many things were yet to be decided as the qualifying round approached, especially considering the wet conditions at Silverstone.

George Russell leads all-British top three in qualifying at Silverstone

The first quarter began with the drivers on intermediate tyres, under a sunlit part of the circuit with dark clouds looming over other areas, creating a potential for rain. Valtteri Bottas was the first driver to make a move on slicks.

But the red flag came out for Sergio Perez at Copse, who beached himself in the gravel as he got himself onto the wet part of the track, ran wide and spun around backwards. He waited to try and get pushed back on track, but wasn’t allowed back in, but that was not to be.

The threat of more rain at the end of Q1 led the drivers to hastily get back on track and set lap times. Due to the track drying up, Perez quickly fell to the back of the field.

Q2 saw the track return to more representative conditions, but there was a significant loss to the session as Charles Leclerc was knocked out at the last moment by the Aston Martin of Lance Stroll, with conditions still improving all the time.

An intriguing Q3 session was set up with both Astons and Alex Albon’s Williams making it to the top 10, alongside Haas driver Nico Hulkenberg. Max Verstappen, despite suffering damage from his trip to the gravel at Copse in Q1, was still able to continue.

The initial Q3 runs at Silverstone resulted in an entirely British top three comprising George Russell, Lando Norris, and Lewis Hamilton. However, the standings could change with another run yet to occur for all drivers.

Norris had to abandon his final lap, but Russell managed to fend off Hamilton’s faster lap and secure his first ever home pole at Silverstone. He also contributed to an all-British top three for Sunday’s race at Silverstone.
