F1 starting grid: What is the grid order for the 2024 British Grand Prix?
Following the qualifying round for the 2024 British Grand Prix, the starting grid for F1 has been established.
The F1 starting grid has been put in place following qualifying for the British Grand Prix at Silverstone on Saturday.
Before the session began, it was confirmed that Pierre Gasly from Alpine would be starting from the back of the grid due to a complete power unit change. However, there were still many uncertainties heading into the qualifying round due to the wet conditions at Silverstone.
George Russell leads all-British top three in qualifying at Silverstone
The first quarter began with the drivers on intermediate tyres, as the circuit was partially sunlit and partially under the shadow of dark clouds that threatened rain. Valtteri Bottas was the first driver to venture out on slicks.
But the red flag came out for Sergio Perez at Copse, who beached himself in the gravel as he got himself onto the wet part of the track, ran wide and spun around backwards. He waited to try and get pushed back on track, but wasn’t allowed back in, but that was not to be.
Threats of more rain at the end of Q1 led the drivers to quickly line up to return to the track and set lap times. As the track began to dry up, Perez swiftly fell to the back of the field.

Q2 saw the track return to more representative conditions, but there was a significant loss to the session as Charles Leclerc was knocked out at the last moment by the Aston Martin of Lance Stroll, with conditions still improving all the time.
This led to an interesting Q3 session, featuring both Astons, Alex Albon’s Williams, and Haas driver Nico Hulkenberg, all of whom had secured spots in the top 10. Max Verstappen was also present, despite sustaining damage after veering off into the gravel at Copse in Q1, though he managed to continue.
The initial runs in Q3 at Silverstone resulted in an all-British top three consisting of George Russell, Lando Norris, and Lewis Hamilton. However, there was still another run to come, which could potentially change the standings.
Norris had to abandon his final lap, while Russell managed to fend off a quicker lap from Hamilton to secure his first-ever home pole position at Silverstone. He also contributed to an all-British top three for Sunday’s race at Silverstone.
