F1 starting grid: What is the grid order for the 2024 British Grand Prix?
Following the qualifying rounds for the 2024 British Grand Prix, the starting grid for F1 has been established.
The F1 starting grid has been put in place following qualifying for the British Grand Prix at Silverstone on Saturday.
Heading into the qualifying session at Silverstone, it was already established that Pierre Gasly of Alpine would be starting from the back of the grid due to a full power unit change. However, wet conditions meant there was still a great deal to determine.

The first quarter started with the drivers on intermediate tyres due to the unpredictable weather – the sun was shining on one part of the circuit while dark clouds were looming over another section, indicating possible rain. Valtteri Bottas was the first to venture out on slicks.
But the red flag came out for Sergio Perez at Copse, who beached himself in the gravel as he got himself onto the wet part of the track, ran wide and spun around backwards. He waited to try and get pushed back on track, but wasn’t allowed back in, but that was not to be.
The threat of more rain at the end of Q1 prompted the drivers to hurry onto the track in order to set lap times. As the track began to dry, Perez quickly fell to the back of the field.

Q2 saw the track return to more representative conditions, but there was a significant loss to the session as Charles Leclerc was knocked out at the last moment by the Aston Martin of Lance Stroll, with conditions still improving all the time.
This arrangement led to an interesting Q3 session. Both Astons, Williams’ Alex Albon, and Haas’ Nico Hulkenberg managed to make it to the top 10. In addition, despite Max Verstappen sustaining damage from an excursion into the gravel at Copse in Q1, he was still able to continue.
In Q3, the initial runs witnessed an entirely British top three with George Russell, Lando Norris, and Lewis Hamilton. However, at Silverstone, another run could potentially alter this ranking.
Norris had to withdraw from his final lap. However, Russell managed to outpace Hamilton, securing his first-ever home pole at Silverstone. This achievement also resulted in an all-British top three for Sunday’s race at Silverstone.
