F1 starting grid: What is the grid order for the 2024 British Grand Prix?

The starting grid for the 2024 British Grand Prix has been established after the F1 qualifying.

The F1 starting grid has been put in place following qualifying for the British Grand Prix at Silverstone on Saturday.

Before the session, it was already established that Pierre Gasly of Alpine would be starting at the back of the grid due to a complete power unit change. However, the wet conditions at Silverstone meant that there was still a lot to determine heading into the qualifying round.

George Russell leads all-British top three in qualifying at Silverstone

The beginning of Q1 saw the drivers on intermediate tyres, under a sky divided by the sun shining on one part of the circuit and dark clouds looming on the other, hinting at possible rain. Valtteri Bottas was the first driver to venture out on slicks.

But the red flag came out for Sergio Perez at Copse, who beached himself in the gravel as he got himself onto the wet part of the track, ran wide and spun around backwards. He waited to try and get pushed back on track, but wasn’t allowed back in, but that was not to be.

The threat of more rain at the end of Q1 led to drivers rushing to get back on track as quickly as possible to set lap times. As the track dried up, Perez swiftly found himself at the back of the field.

Q2 saw the track return to more representative conditions, but there was a significant loss to the session as Charles Leclerc was knocked out at the last moment by the Aston Martin of Lance Stroll, with conditions still improving all the time.

An intriguing Q3 session was set up, featuring both Astons, Alex Albon’s Williams, and Haas driver Nico Hulkenberg, all of whom made it to the top 10. Meanwhile, Max Verstappen, despite sustaining damage after visiting the gravel at Copse in Q1, was able to continue.

In Q3, the first runs resulted in an all-British top three with George Russell, Lando Norris, and Lewis Hamilton. However, there is still another run at Silverstone where this could all change.

Norris had to abandon his final lap, however, Russell managed to fend off Hamilton’s faster lap, securing his first-ever home pole at Silverstone. He also led a top three all-British lineup for Sunday’s race at Silverstone.
