Lando Norris pipped Max Verstappen to pole for the 2024 Spanish Grand Prix in a thrilling qualifying battle.

Lando Norris snatches Spanish GP pole from Max Verstappen

Verstappen seemed to have the pole position secured after gaining a few more tenths in his final run. However, Norris outperformed him by delivering a 1:11.383, beating Verstappen by a mere 0.02s to claim the pole position for himself.

The second row will be entirely occupied by Mercedes, with Lewis Hamilton outperforming George Russell for only the second time this season. Charles Leclerc will precede his Ferrari teammate and local favorite, Carlos Sainz, on the third row.

The top 10 for the Spanish Grand Prix grid is completed by Pierre Gasly, Esteban Ocon, Oscar Piastri, and Fernando Alonso.

Nico Hulkenberg from Haas and Lance Stroll, Alonso’s team-mate from Aston Martin, will make up the seventh row, followed by Zhou Guanyu in the second Sauber and Kevin Magnussen from Haas.

Yuki Tsunoda is leading Daniel Ricciardo in the all-RB row nine, with Alex Albon and Logan Sargeant of Williams effectively making up the back row for the Spanish Grand Prix. Albon was relegated to the pit lane after his team decided to replace his Energy Store and Control Electronics.
