Verstappen seemed to have secured the pole position after gaining some time in his final run. However, Norris outdid him by delivering a 1:11.383 time, beating Verstappen by a mere 0.02s and claiming the pole position for himself.

Lewis Hamilton outqualified George Russell for only the second time this season, ensuring an all-Mercedes second row. On the third row, Charles Leclerc is ahead of his Ferrari team-mate and local favourite, Carlos Sainz.

The top 10 for the Spanish Grand Prix grid is completed by Pierre Gasly, Esteban Ocon, Oscar Piastri, and Fernando Alonso.
