Lando Norris snatches Spanish GP pole from Max Verstappen

It seemed as though Verstappen might secure pole position after improving slightly on his final run. However, Norris delivered a 1:11.383, surpassing Verstappen by a mere 0.02s to claim the pole position for himself.

The second row will be entirely occupied by Mercedes, with Lewis Hamilton managing to outqualify George Russell for only the second time this season. Charles Leclerc has secured a position ahead of his Ferrari team-mate and local hero, Carlos Sainz, on the third row.

The top 10 for the Spanish Grand Prix grid is completed by Pierre Gasly, Esteban Ocon, Oscar Piastri, and Fernando Alonso.

Nico Hulkenberg from Haas and Lance Stroll, Alonso’s teammate from Aston Martin, will make up the seventh row. They will be ahead of Zhou Guanyu from the second Sauber team and Kevin Magnussen from Haas.

In the all-RB ninth row, Yuki Tsunoda is leading Daniel Ricciardo. The back row of the Spanish Grand Prix will be occupied by Alex Albon and Logan Sargeant from Williams’ team.
