Lando Norris pipped Max Verstappen to pole for the 2024 Spanish Grand Prix in a thrilling qualifying battle.

Lando Norris snatches Spanish GP pole from Max Verstappen

Verstappen seemed poised to secure pole position in his final run after finding a couple more tenths. However, Norris delivered a 1:11.383, edging out Verstappen by a mere 0.02s, and snatched the pole position for himself.

The second row will be entirely comprised of Mercedes, with Lewis Hamilton outperforming George Russell for only the second time this season. Charles Leclerc, ahead of his Ferrari team-mate and local favorite Carlos Sainz, will occupy the third row.

The top 10 for the Spanish Grand Prix grid is completed by Pierre Gasly, Esteban Ocon, Oscar Piastri and Fernando Alonso.

Nico Hulkenberg of Haas and Lance Stroll, Aston Martin team-mate of Alonso, will make up the seventh row, followed by Zhou Guanyu in the second Sauber and Kevin Magnussen from Haas.

The ninth row is entirely made up of RB players, with Yuki Tsunoda leading Daniel Ricciardo.
