Lando Norris pipped Max Verstappen to pole for the 2024 Spanish Grand Prix in a thrilling qualifying battle.

It initially appeared that Verstappen had secured pole position after shaving off a few more tenths in his last run. However, Norris outperformed Verstappen by a slim margin of 0.02s with a 1:11.383 timing, stealing the pole position for himself.

The second row will be entirely occupied by Mercedes, with Lewis Hamilton outperforming George Russell for only the second time this season. Meanwhile, on the third row, Charles Leclerc is ahead of his Ferrari team-mate and local favorite, Carlos Sainz.

The top 10 for the Spanish Grand Prix grid is completed by Pierre Gasly, Esteban Ocon, Oscar Piastri, and Fernando Alonso.

Nico Hulkenberg from Haas and Lance Stroll, Alonso’s teammate from Aston Martin, will make up the seventh row. They are ahead of Zhou Guanyu in the second Sauber and Kevin Magnussen from Haas.

Yuki Tsunoda is ahead of Daniel Ricciardo in an all-RB ninth row, with Alex Albon and Logan Sargeant from Williams forming the back row at the Spanish Grand Prix. After the team decided to replace his Energy Store and Control Electronics, Albon moved to the pit lane.
