Lando Norris pipped Max Verstappen to pole for the 2024 Spanish Grand Prix in a thrilling qualifying battle.

Lando Norris snatches Spanish GP pole from Max Verstappen

It seemed like Verstappen might secure pole after shaving a few more tenths off his final run. However, Norris delivered a 1:11.383, outdoing Verstappen by a mere 0.02s to claim the pole position for himself.

The second row will be completely occupied by Mercedes, with Lewis Hamilton qualifying ahead of George Russell for only the second time this season. Charles Leclerc will lead the third row ahead of his Ferrari team-mate and local favourite, Carlos Sainz.

The top 10 for the Spanish Grand Prix grid is completed by Pierre Gasly, Esteban Ocon, Oscar Piastri, and Fernando Alonso.

Yuki Tsunoda leads Daniel Ricciardo in an all-RB ninth row, with Alex Albon and Logan Sargeant from Williams forming the last row at the Spanish Grand Prix. After a decision to alter his Energy Store and Control Electronics, Albon ended up in the pit lane.
