After Verstappen’s final run, it seemed like he had secured the pole position, having found a few more tenths. However, Norris delivered a 1:11.383, surpassing Verstappen by a mere 0.02s to claim the pole position for himself.

The second row will be entirely occupied by Mercedes, with Lewis Hamilton outqualifying George Russell for only the second time this season. Charles Leclerc will be ahead of his Ferrari team-mate and local favorite Carlos Sainz on the third row.

The top 10 for the Spanish Grand Prix grid is completed by Pierre Gasly, Esteban Ocon, Oscar Piastri, and Fernando Alonso.
