F1 starting grid: What is the grid order for the 2024 Spanish Grand Prix?

Lando Norris pipped Max Verstappen to pole for the 2024 Spanish Grand Prix in a thrilling qualifying battle. 

With Verstappen in the Red Bull and McLaren’s Norris joined by the Ferrari and Mercedes duos seemingly in the battle for pole, it was Verstappen and Norris who emerged from this pack as Norris secured that P1 grid slot for Sunday’s Spanish Grand Prix.

Lando Norris snatches Spanish GP pole from Max Verstappen

It appeared that Verstappen might have secured pole after gaining a few more tenths in his final run. However, Norris surpassed him by recording a 1:11.383, outdoing Verstappen by a mere 0.02s to claim the pole position for himself.

Lewis Hamilton has outqualified George Russell for only the second time this season, making it an all-Mercedes second row. Charles Leclerc is ahead of his Ferrari team-mate and local hero, Carlos Sainz, on the third row.

The top 10 for the Spanish Grand Prix grid is completed by Pierre Gasly, Esteban Ocon, Oscar Piastri, and Fernando Alonso.

After receiving a three-place grid penalty in Canada, Sergio Perez is set to lead the effort to break into the top 10 and score points. Valtteri Bottas of Sauber will join him on the sixth row.

Nico Hulkenberg of Haas and Lance Stroll, Aston Martin team-mate of Alonso, will be in the seventh row, leading Zhou Guanyu of the second Sauber and Kevin Magnussen of Haas.

Yuki Tsunoda is leading Daniel Ricciardo in an all-RB row nine, with Alex Albon and Logan Sargeant from Williams forming the back row for the Spanish Grand Prix. After a decision to change his Energy Store and Control Electronics, Albon fell back to the pit lane.
