F1 starting grid: What is the grid order for the 2024 Spanish Grand Prix?

Lando Norris pipped Max Verstappen to pole for the 2024 Spanish Grand Prix in a thrilling qualifying battle. 

With Verstappen in the Red Bull and McLaren’s Norris joined by the Ferrari and Mercedes duos seemingly in the battle for pole, it was Verstappen and Norris who emerged from this pack as Norris secured that P1 grid slot for Sunday’s Spanish Grand Prix.

It seemed like Verstappen might secure the pole position after his final run, but Norris outperformed him by a mere 0.02s with a 1:11.383, thereby snatching the pole for himself.

The second row will be entirely occupied by Mercedes, with Lewis Hamilton managing to outqualify George Russell for only the second time this season. Charles Leclerc is ahead of his Ferrari team-mate and local favorite, Carlos Sainz, on the third row.

The top 10 for the Spanish Grand Prix grid is completed by Pierre Gasly, Esteban Ocon, Oscar Piastri, and Fernando Alonso.

Following the implementation of his three-place grid penalty from Canada, Sergio Perez is set to spearhead the effort to break into the top 10 and earn points. He will be accompanied by Sauber’s Valtteri Bottas on the sixth row.

Nico Hulkenberg from Haas and Lance Stroll, Alonso’s teammate from Aston Martin, will make up the seventh row. They are ahead of Zhou Guanyu from the second Sauber and Kevin Magnussen from Haas.

Yuki Tsunoda is ahead of Daniel Ricciardo in an all-RB row nine, with Alex Albon and Logan Sargeant from Williams forming the back row for the Spanish Grand Prix. Albon moved to the pit lane as his team decided to replace his Energy Store and Control Electronics.
