It seemed as though Verstappen might secure the pole after shaving a few tenths off his final run, but Norris managed to outdo him with a 1:11.383, surpassing Verstappen by a mere 0.02s to claim the pole position for himself.

Lewis Hamilton outqualified George Russell for only the second time this season, securing an all-Mercedes second row. Meanwhile, Charles Leclerc positioned himself ahead of his Ferrari team-mate and local favorite Carlos Sainz on the third row.

The top 10 for the Spanish Grand Prix grid is completed by Pierre Gasly, Esteban Ocon, Oscar Piastri, and Fernando Alonso.

Nico Hulkenberg from Haas and Lance Stroll, Alonso’s team-mate from Aston Martin, will make up the seventh row. They are ahead of Zhou Guanyu from the second Sauber team and Kevin Magnussen from Haas.

Yuki Tsunoda leads Daniel Ricciardo in an all-RB row nine, with Williams’ Alex Albon and Logan Sargeant forming the back row for the Spanish Grand Prix. After a decision by his team to change his Energy Store and Control Electronics, Albon was subsequently relegated to the pit lane.
