Lando Norris pipped Max Verstappen to pole for the 2024 Spanish Grand Prix in a thrilling qualifying battle.

Lando Norris snatches Spanish GP pole from Max Verstappen

It appeared that Verstappen might have secured pole after improving slightly in his final run. However, Norris outperformed him with a 1:11.383, beating Verstappen by a mere 0.02s and claiming the pole position for himself.

Lewis Hamilton outqualified George Russell for only the second time this season, securing an all-Mercedes second row. Meanwhile, Charles Leclerc outperformed his Ferrari team-mate and local favourite Carlos Sainz, taking the lead on row three.

The top 10 for the Spanish Grand Prix grid is completed by Pierre Gasly, Esteban Ocon, Oscar Piastri, and Fernando Alonso.

Nico Hulkenberg from Haas and Lance Stroll, Alonso’s team-mate from Aston Martin, will make up the seventh row. They will be ahead of Zhou Guanyu from the second Sauber and Kevin Magnussen from Haas.

Yuki Tsunoda is leading Daniel Ricciardo in an all-RB row nine. Alex Albon and Logan Sargeant from Williams will essentially make up the back row for the Spanish Grand Prix. Albon was relegated to the pit lane after his team decided to alter his Energy Store and Control Electronics.
