In his final run, Verstappen seemed to have secured the pole position after gaining a few more tenths. However, Norris surprised everyone by delivering a 1:11.383, beating Verstappen by a mere 0.02s and claiming the pole position for himself.

Lewis Hamilton and George Russell will occupy the all-Mercedes second row, with Hamilton outqualifying Russell for only the second time this season. Meanwhile, Charles Leclerc and his Ferrari team-mate, local hero Carlos Sainz, will be on the third row, with Leclerc leading.
