Aaron Willison Returns to Must See Competition This Saturday at Berlin

Canadian driver from Langley, British Columbia, Aaron Willison, is leading a strong lineup of sprint cars in the Must See Racing Sprint Series Presented by Perfit-Parts. The event is set to take place this Saturday, August 10, at Berlin Raceway in Marne, Michigan.

In the 2024 MSR competition, Willison has been nothing less than extraordinary. Even after missing two races, he is currently placed tenth in the series championship points chase.

He made his MSR debut at Lancaster Motorplex June 1 in Lancaster, New York. He was sensational right out of the box in the Dick Myers owned #50m Mopar powered machine. Starting in the seventh starting spot, Willison put on a thrilling drive to the front and worked himself into position for a shot at the win on the final corner of the final lap of the race. He was able to get alongside eventual race winner Bobby Santos III to no avail and was forced to settle for second place.

While in the victory lane, he shared his thoughts on his late race surge with MSR PA announcer Jacob Seelman. “If we had one or two more laps, I believe we could have overtaken him,” Willison stated. “Driving this 50m for Dick Myers was truly a joy; he assembled a fantastic car for tonight. It performed incredibly well. It’s unfortunate that our track position ultimately held us back, but we thoroughly enjoyed maneuvering up through the ranks.”

Santos, the race winner, conceded that Willison was a significant threat. “It was challenging, both in the middle and towards the end,” Santos admitted from the victory lane. “The 50 car has been the epitome of winged sprint car racing on asphalt for quite some time now. Pair that with a driver as skilled as Aaron Willison, it’s quite intimidating. He was gaining on me towards the end.”

In Willison’s most recent MSR appearance at Owosso Speedway on June 22, he put it all together and won his first career MSR feature victory in only his second career series start. He won in dominating fashion no less, winning by a ten second plus margin of victory. It was one of the most dominant MSR performances seen in many years.

Willison and the vehicle’s owner, Dick Myers, have created a formidable partnership. Many people think that this is the most dominant the car owned by Myers has been since it was driven by the late Cameron Dodson in the mid-2000s.

Participating in MSR events presents a significant challenge for Willison. The one-way distance is roughly 2400 miles, requiring an entire day of travel, including layovers. It’s typical for him to arrive at the airport early in the morning.

Myers and his partner are now set to compete at the Berlin Raceway, a venue where Myers has previously enjoyed significant success, having won numerous winged sprint car races with various drivers. Meanwhile, Willison, who is currently performing at his best, recently won the 50K Open Wheel Showdown in Las Vegas just last December. He also secured a 10K prize after a win in Colorado last month. Should things go according to Willison and Myers’ plan, their rivals can expect a challenging night this coming Saturday at the Berlin Raceway.

The ‘Fast Car Dash’ mini-series will also have its second round at Saturday’s event.
