JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Ready to Close Out the 2022 Points Season at Winchester Speedway Friday
The JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour, sponsored by Chevrolet Performance, is set to conclude its 12th season of points competition this Friday, October 14th, 2022. The event will take place at the renowned Winchester Speedway in Salem, IN, marking the start of the 51st Winchester 400 Weekend, which is presented by Vore’s Welding & Steel. A formidable lineup of 32 skilled Pro Late Model drivers are currently registered to compete in the JEGS 100 Season Championship event on Friday evening.
This Friday’s event will be the tenth points event of the season for the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour. Casey Roderick won the series’ season opener on April 24th at Salem Speedway. Dylan Fetcho won the second event at Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway on May 7th. Kyle Crump won the series’ third event at Birch Run Speedway on May 15th. Ethan Stadniczuk won the fourth event of the season at Flat Rock Speedway on June 16th. Carson Hocevar won the series' fifth event at Birch Run Speedway on July 2nd. Willie Allen won the July 9th Masters of the Pros event at Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway. Nicholas Naugle got his first JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour win in the series’ event on August 6th at Anderson Speedway. Leading series rookie Nick Egan picked up his first series’ win in the series event on September 3rd at Winchester Speedway. Carson Hocevar won the series' last event at Birch Run Speedway on September 10th, becoming the first series driver with multiple wins in 2022.
The two drivers racing for the Championship on Friday includes Chase event winner and Regular Season Champion Nick Egan. The Wisconsin native has already clinched the series 2022 Rookie of the Year Award. Owensboro, Kentucky native Dakota Stroup is the second Chase for the Championship driver, he had been battling bad luck for several races before coming away with a third-place finish in the series' last event on September 10th at Birch Run Speedway. The driver finishing the highest of those two in the 100 lap Season Championship event on Friday will be crowned the 2022 series Champion. It will be the first CRA Championship for either driver.
On Friday, the two Championship hunting drivers will face a significant amount of competition from the CRA. This includes Jon Beach, the defending event winner, Nicholas Naugle, the Anderson event winner, and Ethan Stadniczuk, the Flat Rock event winner. Two-time series Champion Dan Leeck, ARCA/CRA Super Series Chase competitors Albert Francis and Billy Van Meter, brothers Brandon and Evan Varney, Kevin Cremonesi, Jimmy Tucker, Chase Burda, Michael Simko, Scotty Tomasik, James Krueger, Jonathan Martin, J.P. Crabtree, Jordan Miller, Jordon Riddick, Tom Miller, and Jared Smith will also compete. Additionally, Dylan Stovall, John Stapleton and New Yorker Rick Giannino will make their series debuts on Friday night.
Gio Ruggerio, a prominent leader of a talented outside group, will be participating in the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Season Championship event this coming Friday. Ruggerio is on a winning streak, having won two major Pro Late Model events consecutively. His victories include the Five Flags Speedway event on September 24th, followed by another win at the Montgomery Motor Speedway on October 1st. In total, Ruggerio has secured seven Pro Late Model wins as part of the Anthony Campi Racing team.
William Sawalich, a 15-year-old racer, is registered. Sawalich boasts of two consecutive victories in the ARCA/CRA Super Series, which include the Labor Day Weekend event at Winchester Speedway and the Glass City 100 at Toledo Speedway on September 17th. Furthermore, he has achieved five wins in the CARS Pro Late Model Tour in 2022 so far.
Stephen Nasse, a renowned Super Late Model racer, has signed up for the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Season Championship. In 2019, Stephen emerged victorious in the Winchester 400 and also scored a win at the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour on Labor Day Weekend. He also secured a victory at the ARCA/CRA Super Series event during the same weekend. Ryan Luza, a racer from Texas, is set to revisit Winchester, this time partnering with Nasse for Jett Motorsports.
Michael Hinde, a native of Florida, is also participating in Friday’s event. He triumphed at the series SpeedFest 2022 season opener at Watermelon Capital Speedway on January 29th. At the Winchester Speedway ARCA/CRA Super Series event on Labor Day Weekend, Hinde came in second to Sawalich. Although he was the Nova Motorsports Fast Qualifier with the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour at Winchester on Labor Day Weekend, he had to exit the feature early due to suspension problems.
Jeff Fultz, a seasoned late model racer, is set to make an uncommon appearance in the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Season Championship event this Friday. Fultz, a two-time champion at the ARCA/CRA Super Series at Winchester Speedway, also secured a second place finish in 2012 at a JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour event at the same venue. Fultz has an impressive record, having clinched 26 Late Model victories with NASCAR from 1996 to 2006, along with three championships.
The Winchester 400 Weekend kicks off with optional load-in, hauler parking, and pit pass purchases available from 3 to 7pm on Thursday, October 13th.
The pits will open at 10:30am on Friday, October 14th, followed by a rotating practice for all divisions starting at 1:30pm. The second round practice and group qualifying for the Vore’s Compact Touring Series, Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman Series, and Van Hoy Oil CRA Street Stocks New Star events will commence at 4:15pm. At 6pm, the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Nova Motorsports qualifying will begin. The racing action will kick off at 7pm with a 20-lap Vore’s Compact Touring Series B Main. Next up will be the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Season Championship JEGS 100, followed by the Vores Touring Compacts Jason Dietsch Trailer Sales 30. The evening’s racing will conclude with the CRA Late Model Sportsman and CRA Street Stocks 20-lap New Star features.
