Nearly 40 Modifieds Headed to North Wilkesboro This Week

At long last, it was race week for the start of the Racetrack Revival at North Wilkesboro. The Touring Modifieds will take center stage on Tuesday and Wednesday, August 2-3, with a pair of 50-lap features. There will be no shortage of competition on hand for racing's return to North Wilkesboro Speedway.

A total of 38 drivers will take part over the two days of racing, including some of the top Modified drivers from across the country.

For long-time NASCAR fans who may be tuning in just to see North Wilkesboro return in its glory, there will be some recognizable names. Among those are NASCAR Hall of Famer Bobby Labonte, 2008 Daytona 500 winner Ryan Newman and Ryan Preece.

The entry list also boasts Modified champions from the Southeast and Northeast alike, creating an all-star lineup of Touring Modified drivers.

Along with Preece, drivers on the entry list who have claimed Modified touring championships include Matt Hirschman, Burt Myers, Chuck Hossfeld, Jamie Tomaino, Brian Loftin and Jeremy Gerstner.

Other notable Modified entrants include 2021 Race of Champions 250 winner Andy Jankowiak, New Smyrna World Series Modified champions Jimmy Blewett and Tim Connolly and North-South Shootout winner Max McLaughlin.

Brandon Ward is in the hunt for a track championship with the Modifieds at Bowman Gray Stadium, along with being a former UARA champion in Late Model Stock Cars and owning wins in several Southern Touring Modified series over the years. He will be another driver to watch this week at North Wilkesboro.

Devin O'Connell, the 2018 Granite State Pro Stock Series champion, has added some Modified racing to his resume in recent years. He will be another championship-caliber driver in this week's field.

There are a small handful of drivers who will only participate on one day of the event. Ryan Newman will race on Tuesday, August 2 in the SS Racing No. 39, with three-time SMART Modified Tour race winner Jonathan Brown taking the helm on Wednesday.

Similarly, Max McLaughlin will pilot Gary Putnam's No. 77 on Tuesday, while Putnam will take over driving duties on Wednesday.

Tickets are available at racetrackrevival.com for fans planning to make the pilgrimage to North Wilkesboro Speedway for the event. However, we understand most fans won’t be able to attend all of the racing throughout the month of August in person.

Through a partnership between XR Events and Racing America, fans unable to attend the Racetrack Revival will be able to watch each day of racing live on Racing America via a la carte pay-per-view options.

Fans can also subscribe to XR’s streaming platform XR+ for the month of August for $39.99 and watch every race during the month.
