The Lakers entered the 2024 NBA Draft with the No. 17 and No. 55 overall picks.

No. 17 pick: Dalton Knecht

Knecht has excellent size and is comfortable handling the ball, shooting off the catch and pulling up off the dribble from well beyond the 3-point line. Knecht’s confidence and seemingly unlimited range are what make him such a dangerous offensive player. He’s not overly quick or athletic, but defenders are forced to respect his ability to pull up at a moment’s notice.

Knecht had 11 games with at least four made 3s last season, including a 6-for-12 performance in the Vols’ Elite 8 loss to Purdue. The 6-foot-6 wing tends to run hot and cold, but when he’s locked in, he’s one of the most difficult players in the country to stop. — RotoWire. Go deeper.

No. 55 pick: Bronny James

The eldest son of LeBron James, Bronny averaged 14.2 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.8 steals as a senior for Sierra Canyon in California and was a consensus four-star recruit. He was a McDonald’s All-American and played in the Jordan Brand Classic and Nike Hoop Summit in 2023. He committed to USC, but at a practice in July ahead of his freshman season, James collapsed after experiencing cardiac arrest caused by a congenital heart defect.

He was released from the hospital a few days later and ultimately got some action for the Trojans after missing the first eight games of the 2023-24 campaign. James averaged 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 0.8 steals in 19.4 minutes across 25 appearances (six starts) while shooting 36.6% overall, 26.7% on 3-pointers and 67.6% on free throws. He improved his draft stock with a stellar shooting display at the combine.

James excels in catch-and-shoot situations and shows great energy and instincts on defense. At 6-foot-2, he lacks size at the NBA level, but his athleticism is considered elite. James can handle the ball and is a willing passer but isn’t a true point guard. — RotoWire. Go deeper.
