The home team always wins.

This was the third straight year in which the Kia Skills Challenge at 2024 State Farm All-Star Saturday Night was a team event, and it was the third straight year in which the home team won. After the Cavs and Jazz each won on their home court, it was Team Pacers — Tyrese Haliburton, Bennedict Mathurin and Myles Turner — taking the crown in 2024.

The contest was determined in a half-court-shot, tie-breaker round for the third consecutive year. The Pacers emerged victorious in the initial two rounds, each earning them 100 challenge points. The All-Stars team – comprising Scottie Barnes, Tyrese Maxey, and Trae Young – subsequently dominated the shooting round, earning 200 challenge points.

The All-Stars initiated the tie-breaker round, but took 58.8 seconds to land a half-court shot. Despite taking their time, the Pacers still managed to beat this time by over 20 seconds. The competition concluded with Haliburton’s swish.

The Pacers emerged victorious in the first round by completing the three-man relay in 1:07. The All-stars initially set a challenging pace with a time of 1:18, but were hindered by Barnes’ ball fumble and Maxey’s wrong turn around the first pylon. Despite the efforts of Team Top Picks – comprising Paolo Banchero, Anthony Edwards, and Victor Wembanyama – they were unable to surpass the Pacers’ time, with Edwards’ first two 3-point attempts hitting the side of the backboard. Following this, the Pacers executed a relatively flawless relay, with all three members successfully making their first corner 3. The run was concluded by Haliburton, who impressively threw a through-the-legs alley-oop off the backboard to himself.

The decisive round resulted in a tie-breaker between Team All-Stars and the Pacers, as both ended their first round with 74 points. The All-Stars initiated the tie-breaker, setting a new record of 90, but the Pacers surpassed it with 92, eschewing the two-point goal and simply switching between the four and the six.
