CLEVELAND (AP) — Cavaliers center Jarrett Allen sat out Game 7 against Orlando on Sunday with a painful rib injury that sidelined him for the final three games of the first-round series.

Before getting injured — presumably in Game 4, Allen, who had been the Cavs’ most consistent player in the series and grabbed 20 rebounds in Game 2.

Cavs coach J.B. Bickerstaff only responded with “we’ll see” when questioned about Allen’s availability prior to the series finale. However, Allen, who stands at 6-foot-11, is still dealing with mobility problems that have made it difficult for him to play effectively.

The Cavs have merely stated that Allen has bruised ribs.

In his four games against the Magic, Allen managed an average of 17.0 points and 13.8 rebounds. He was seeking redemption for his sub-par performance in the previous year’s opening round where the Cavs lost to the New York Knicks in five games. Allen admitted that he and his teammates had been overwhelmed by the pressure, stating the “lights were too bright”.

After being traded from Brooklyn, Allen completed his fourth season with Cleveland, averaging career-high stats of 16.5 points, 10.5 rebounds, and 2.7 assists over 77 games.
