Domantas Sabonis, Joel Embiid named NBA Players of the Week for Week 22

Sacramento Kings forward Domantas Sabonis and Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid have been named the NBA Players of the Week for Week 22. This is the second consecutive Player of the Week honors for Sabonis and Embiid as both earned the achievement for Week 21.

Domantas Sabonis, Sacramento Kings

Domantas Sabonis nearly notches a triple-double, ending the game with 30 points, 10 assists and 9 rebounds.

Sabonis led the Kings to a 3-1 record this week with averages of 22.8 points, 16.0 rebounds and 10.0 assists. His week was highlighted by a 24-point, 21-rebound game (his fourth 20-point, 20-rebound game of the season) in a win over the Nets. Sabonis is averaging 19.2 points, 12.5 rebounds and 7.2 assists this season in Sacramento. The Kings (43-27) are currently tied for 2nd in the West standings.

Joel Embiid, Philadelphia 76ers

Joel Embiid scored 31 points in the 76ers' win over the Pacers on Saturday.

The Kia MVP Candidate set a 76ers franchise record with nine straight games with at least 30 points, including seven straight games where he shot 55-percent-or-better from the floor. These seven consecutive games with 30-plus points on 55% shooting are tied for the longest such streak in league history. Embiid is averaging 33.5 points, 10.2 rebounds and 4.2 assists this season. The Sixers (48-22) are currently 2nd in the East standings.
