The Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame has announced modifications to its election process that will scrutinize candidates from the International, Men’s Veteran’s, Women’s Veteran’s, and Contributor Committees more meticulously. Since 2011, these categories have been treated as independent ‘direct-elect’ committees, with the aim of providing focused and specialized consideration to candidates who might have been overlooked. The Election Process Committee has concluded that this goal of heightened consideration was achieved over the past 12 years. Now, candidates from these categories will return to the former, traditional process of being submitted for final consideration to the Honors Committee for election.
