The Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame has announced revisions to its election procedure to scrutinize candidates from the International, Men’s Veteran’s, Women’s Veteran’s, and Contributor Committees more rigorously. Since 2011, these categories have been independent ‘direct-elect’ committees with the aim of providing concentrated and specialized consideration for nominees who might have been overlooked. The Election Process Committee has concluded that this goal of more intense consideration has been achieved over the past 12 years. Now, candidates from these categories will return to the prior and conventional process of being proposed to the Honors Committee for final consideration for election.
