Hawks waive Patty Mills, convert Trent Forrest to standard NBA contract
This season, Patty Mills has participated in 19 games for Atlanta.
ATLANTA (AP) — The Atlanta Hawks waived 15-year veteran guard Patty Mills on Thursday.
Mills, aged 35, saw limited playtime for the Hawks after his acquisition from Oklahoma City the previous summer. In the 19 games he played with Atlanta, he averaged 2.7 points and 1.1 rebounds.
The Hawks have upgraded guard Trent Forrest’s two-way contract to a standard NBA deal. So far this season, Forrest has participated in 20 games, averaging 2.0 points, 1.3 rebounds and 2.1 assists.
Forrest, an undrafted player from Florida State, was under a two-way contract with the Hawks last season. Prior to that, he spent two years under a similar deal with Utah.
Mills’ career, mostly spent with the San Antonio Spurs, includes 879 appearances, with 107 of them being starts. Before joining the Hawks, he also had stints with Portland and Brooklyn, and has career averages of 8.9 points, 1.7 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game.
