Hawks waive Patty Mills, convert Trent Forrest to standard NBA contract
This season, Patty Mills has participated in 19 games for Atlanta.
ATLANTA (AP) — The Atlanta Hawks waived 15-year veteran guard Patty Mills on Thursday.
Mills, 35, saw limited playtime for the Hawks following his acquisition from Oklahoma City last summer. In the 19 games he played with Atlanta, he averaged 2.7 points and 1.1 rebounds.
The Hawks have upgraded guard Trent Forrest’s two-way contract to a standard NBA deal. This season, he has averaged 2.0 points, 1.3 rebounds, and 2.1 assists across 20 games.
Forrest, an undrafted player from Florida State, spent the previous season with the Hawks on a two-way contract, following a similar two-year deal with Utah.
Mills’ career, primarily with the San Antonio Spurs, includes 879 appearances and 107 starts. He also had stints with Portland and Brooklyn prior to joining the Hawks, with career averages of 8.9 points, 1.7 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game.
