Nuggets lose Jamal Murray to trunk contusion vs. 76ers
Denver Nuggets guard Jamal Murray left in the first quarter of Tuesday’s game and did not return after colliding with Philadelphia 76ers forward Ben Simmons.
Murray was diagnosed with a trunk contusion. X-rays were reportedly negative, and Nuggets coach Michael Malone said he didn’t think the injury is “anything serious.”
“I just talked to him quickly,” Malone said, as reported by the Denver Post. “Blindside of a freak accident, nothing malicious at all. Just a tough hit.”
Murray’s status for Denver’s next game, at home against Portland on Thursday, was not immediately available. Deprived of their leading scorer for the final 42:49, the Nuggets lost 97-92 with their second-lowest output of the season.
