Immanuel Quickley scored a game-high 25 points to lead the New York Knicks to a 91-82 win over the Los Angeles Lakers in the MGM Resorts Summer League on Wednesday at Thomas and Mack Center.
Rookie second-rounder Miles McBride also had a big night for the Knicks, putting up 22 points, seven rebounds, five assists and a steal. The former West Virginia standout went 7-for-9 from the field and drilled 6-for-6 3-pointers in 28 minutes. Second-year forward Obi Toppin logged a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds.
The contest got off to a high-scoring start, as the Knicks led 25-20 after one quarter. The Lakers pulled ahead briefly in the second, but the Knicks reclaimed control with a seven-point lead at halftime. The Lakers chipped away through the third and cut it to a one-point game heading into the final frame, but the Knicks poured in 33 points in the fourth to run away with the win.
The Lakers had four players score in double digits, led by Vic Law and Devontae Cacok, who totaled 14 points each. Trevelin Queen added 13 points, while two-way signee Joel Ayayi chipped in 11 points.
Both teams will be back in action Friday. The Knicks face off against the Pistons, while the Lakers take on the Clippers.
