Patrick Williams exploded for 30 points to help the Chicago Bulls overcome a sizable first-half deficit and notch a 92-89 win against the San Antonio Spurs in a Summer League battle on Tuesday night.
The game was a tale of two halves, with the Spurs building a 15-point edge by halftime. The Bulls began roaring back during a third quarter in which they trimmed the deficit down to three points. Chicago continued their surge, opening the final period on a 15-2 run to build enough cushion for the win.
Williams added seven rebounds, two assists and one steal to his game-high 30-point tally. Second-round pick Marko Simonovic provided 13 points, five rebounds, two assists, two steals and one block. Ayo Dosunmu, a rookie out of Illinois, supplied 10 points, four rebounds, two assists and four steals.
Tre Jones paced the Spurs with 23 points, adding four rebounds and three assists. Jaylen Morris finished with 20 points, five boards, one assist and one steal. Malik Newman turned in 19 points, six rebounds, four assists and one steal. Joe Wieskamp went for 11 points, five rebounds, two assists, one steal and one block.
Both teams return to action Thursday, with the Bulls facing the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Spurs taking on the Charlotte Hornets.
