Daulton Hommes scored a game-high 17 points to lead the New Orleans Pelicans to an 87-59 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves in the MGM Resorts Summer League on Tuesday at Cox Pavilion.
The contest got out to a competitive start, as the Pelicans held a three-point lead after one quarter. However, the Timberwolves went quiet in the second quarter, where they were outscored 25-9, as the Pelicans amassed a 19-point lead by halftime. The Timberwolves did not manage to bring the contest back into contention through the second half, as the Pelicans rallied to a game-high 31-point lead late in the fourth on their way to the blowout.
A total of five players scored in double digits for the Pelicans, including Moses Wright and David DiLeo, who tallied 13 points each. Naji Marshall did not put up many points but had a big impact with 10 rebounds, 10 assists, two steals and just one turnover in 23 minutes.
Isaiah Miller was the only player to score in double digits for the Timberwolves with 13 points on 6-for-10 shooting in 22 minutes. Nathan Knight logged seven points, seven rebounds and two steals, while McKinley Wright IV finished with eight points, six rebounds and two assists.
