LeBron: 'I will be as active as I need to be' during Lakers' offseason

The 2019 NBA free agent class is full of stars who could be on the move.

Los Angeles, where both the Lakers and Clippers have the salary cap room to sign a player to a max contract, is one potential landing spot.

The Lakers are optimistic that having LeBron James will provide them an advantage when recruitment starts on July 1. Moreover, LeBron is prepared to support the team in every possible manner.

“I’ve never played fantasy basketball,” James told Howard Beck of Bleacher Report. “But I will be as active as I need to be for this franchise to get better. That’s why I came here. I came here to win. And obviously, we need to get better, as far as our personnel. We have an opportunity to get better. And there’s a lot of talent out there, and a lot of guys that can help our franchise. So I’ll be as active as I need to be for us to get better and go from there.”

Following LeBron’s first season in L.A., where they didn’t make the playoffs, the subsequent season has gained even more significance for both the team and LeBron. He is set to turn 35 years old in December.

“James said to Beck that this summer is crucial for him. He acknowledged that the franchise would continue indefinitely, but stated that for him personally, it was extremely important as he wanted to compete and he wanted to do so immediately.

Numerous players will be available who could assist LeBron and the Lakers in their progression towards becoming title contenders.

However, numerous other teams will also be vying for a star, including the Clippers, New York Knicks, and Brooklyn Nets.
