NBA Jersey Day returns for its third year on Dec. 14

Dirk Nowitzki had his No. 41 jersey retired by the Dallas Mavericks in 2022.

In 1998, after being selected as the ninth pick in the NBA Draft by the Milwaukee Bucks and traded to the Dallas Mavericks, Dirk Nowitzki held up his very first blue and white No. 41 jersey as his monumental career began. In 2022, fans around the world witnessed Nowitzki’s same number ascend to the rafters of the American Airlines Center in Dallas after a 21-season career.

As the league enjoys its 77th season, its style on the court continues to evolve and change. But one thing remains the same: an NBA jersey will always be a tribute to those that wore it before as well as a representation of those leaving their mark in today’s game. On Dec. 14, 2022, NBA fans around the world can all celebrate their favorite NBA teams, players and threads on NBA Jersey Day.

Fans can participate by following these three steps:

  1. Share a photo of yourself, your friends or your family in an NBA WNBA, or NBA G League jersey of any era on social media.
  2. Use the hashtag #NBAJerseyDay.
  3. Tag your favorite teams and players for a chance to be featured on league and team social media channels.

In seasons past, teams have changed their signature colors, retired jersey numbers and launched new uniform editions. But whether you’re rockin’ a vintage Magic Johnson jersey or the 2022-23 Nets City Edition jersey, fans can show off their signature style from wherever they are.

But don’t worry if you don’t have your favorite jersey handy. With teams around the league entering the 2022-23 season in new style, there are plenty of options to get your hands on. No matter if you’re repping the East or West Coast, new jerseys are available on NBAStore.com from Suns guard Devin Brooker to Philly’s big man, Joel Embiid. Or, if you’re more into the legends, Hardwood Classics jerseys might be up your alley, with greats like Larry Bird, Allen Iverson and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (and many more) there for the picking.
