Pacers' Bennedict Mathurin to have season-ending shoulder surgery

INDIANAPOLIS – Indiana Pacers guard Bennedict Mathurin will undergo season-ending surgery to repair a torn labrum in his right shoulder, the team announced Saturday. The procedure will be performed by renowned surgeon Dr. Neal ElAttrache in Los Angeles next week.

Benedict Mathurin has been found to have a torn labrum in his right shoulder, an injury that necessitates surgery.

He is anticipated to miss the rest of the 2023-24 season, with a full recovery expected before the 2024-25 season starts.

Mathurin is set to sit out the rest of the season but is anticipated to recover fully before the 2024-25 season begins. Further updates on Mathurin’s condition will be reported as needed.

What this means: Mathurin averaged 14.5 points this season and established himself as the leader on the Pacers bench this season. The sophomore guard was named the MVP of the 2024 Rising Stars game as part of this year’s NBA All-Star Weekend.

Currently, the Pacers (35-29) hold the eighth place in the Eastern Conference standings.
