Sixers star Joel Embiid returns, starts in 76ers' win over Timberwolves
Joel Embiid collects 24 points in return
Joel Embiid, Philadelphia’s star center, made a comeback in a game on Saturday in which they defeated Minnesota 122-113. Embiid, an All-Star big man candidate, scored 24 points, grabbed eight rebounds, and blocked three shots in his first game since March 12 when he incurred a bone bruise in his left knee. The Sixers had a record of 7-3 while Embiid was absent.
Tobias Harris served as the team’s leading scorer while their All-Star center was sidelined, averaging 21.6 points on 52.4% shooting from the field, 42.3% from deep and 94.3% from the charity stripe. He logged 6.9 boards and 4.5 assists during the stretch.
Before his injury, Embiid was a strong contender for the Kia MVP award. As the race to the postseason begins, he aims to regain his elite performance.
The Brooklyn Nets and Philadelphia are now tied for first place in the Eastern Conference.
