Stephen Curry returns to Warriors lineup for pivotal clash vs. Lakers

After missing 3 games, Stephen Curry returned and scored 31 points (12-24 FGs).

LOS ANGELES (AP) – Golden State star Stephen Curry returned to the starting lineup on Saturday when the Warriors faced the Los Angeles Lakers.

The two-time MVP scored 31 points in Golden State’s 128-121 victory at Crypto.com Arena.

After spraining his right ankle late in the fourth quarter during a March 7 game against the Chicago Bulls, he had been absent for the last three games. This same ankle injury has plagued Curry multiple times throughout his 15-year career, causing him to miss three games earlier this season as well.

Curry, who just celebrated his 36th birthday on Thursday, was given the green light to return to on-court activity on Tuesday. He was able to participate in the team’s practice on Friday in Los Angeles. Last week, Curry underwent an MRI on his ankle, which fortunately showed no structural damage.

In his pregame comments, Coach Steve Kerr mentioned he anticipated Curry to play, although he wanted to observe him during pregame warmups before adding him to the starting five. At the time, Curry was ranked 10th in the league for scoring, with an average of 26.9 points per game.

Draymond Green also made a comeback to the lineup after being absent from Wednesday’s 109-99 loss at Dallas due to back pain.

The Warriors currently occupy the 10th spot in the Western Conference.
