Suns sign Fredette for rest of season
PHOENIX (AP) — Jimmer Fredette is back in the NBA.
The Phoenix Suns signed Fredette for the rest of the season Friday with a team option for 2019-20.
Fredette, who is now 30, swept all national college player of the year awards in his senior season at BYU in 2011. He led the country with an average of 28.9 points per game. After being chosen as the 10th overall pick in the 2011 NBA draft by Milwaukee, he was traded to Sacramento.
Fredette’s success in the NBA was not on par with his college career, with an average of 6.0 points over five seasons with four different teams. His last three seasons were spent playing for Shanghai in the Chinese Basketball Association, where he led the league in scoring last season, averaging 36.9 points per game.
