LAS VEGASThe San Antonio Spurs narrowly defeated the Washington Wizards, 95-90, in a down-to-the-wire showdown at Cox Pavillion in the Las Vegas Summer League on Sunday.

San Antonio led by as much as 20 in the second quarter, but very nearly fell victim to a comeback by Washington. After cutting the deficit to just five points, the Wizards scored two quick layups to come within one in the fourth quarter. Washington had the chance to take the lead after recovering a blocked shot, but failed to capitalize. The Spurs then expanded the lead to three after Jaron Blossomgame put back a Lonnie Walker miss. With just 6.3 seconds remaining, Washington was unable to hit a 3-pointer to tie, and San Antonio walked away victorious after Blossomgame knocked down a pair of free-throws.

Blossomgame led San Antonio with 22 points on 8-of-11 shooting. The big man also grabbed nine rebounds. Walker, the Spurs’ first-round selection, scored 14 points and came away with three steals on the defensive end.

The Wizards, meanwhile, saw a game-high 24 points from forward Devin Robinson. Robinson shot 9-of-18 from the floor and finished with three steals and two blocks. Reigning 15th overall pick Troy Brown also pitched in 21 points and grabbed a team-high 12 rebounds.

Up next, the Wizards will face off with the 76ers on Monday, while the Spurs are set to play against the Trail Blazers on Tuesday.
