Flames To Host Candlelight Vigil
Fans are invited to attend outside the Scotiabank Saddledome on Wednesday, Sept. 4.
The Calgary Flames and the wider hockey community are still grieving the loss of Johnny Gaudreau and his brother Matthew. To honor their memory, the Flames are inviting fans to a Candlelight Vigil on Wednesday, September 4th.
The vigil will be held at the memorial established by Flames fans outside the west entrance of the Scotiabank Saddledome, following the heartbreaking news of Johnny and Matthew’s passing.
The 13-day observance will begin with the Candlelight Vigil on Day 1, during which fans can continue to visit the memorial and pay their respects to Johnny and Matthew.

Event Description:
The event, which is anticipated to last for 45 minutes, will feature a 13-minute vigil in honor of Johnny & Matthew. Speakers from the Flames will also be included in the program.

Memorial site:
In anticipation of tonight’s tribute concert at the Scotiabank Saddledome, we have moved some of the mementos dedicated to Johnny & Matthew from the west stairs. From now on, we suggest fans use the grassy area just north of the stairs as the memorial site.
Candles:
Attendees of the vigil can access a special digital candle on their smartphones through the Calgary Flames app during the “candlelight” portion.
Plan your trip:
The event will cause the closure of Stampede Trail between 14th Ave SE and 17th Ave SE (extension).
Public Parking:
Access to the 11th Ave Lot (north) and Stampede parking lots is only via 25th Ave. Season ticket members can avail of pass holder parking.
Use Erlton and Victoria stations for public transit.
