Maple Leafs Sign 2024 First-round Pick Ben Danford To Three-year, Entry-level Contract
The Toronto Maple Leafs confirmed today that they have signed a three-year, entry-level contract with defenceman Ben Danford.
During the 2023-24 season, 18-year-old Danford recorded 33 points, comprising one goal and 32 assists, in 64 games for the Oshawa Generals in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL). Besides, he contributed an additional 10 points, including four goals and six assists, in 21 playoff games, aiding the team in securing a spot in the Championship Series of the 2024 OHL Playoffs. The 6-foot-2,192-pound defenceman has accumulated 54 points (five goals, 49 assists) in 127 regular season OHL games in his career, along with 11 points (four goals, seven assists) in 26 career playoff games.
The native of Madoc, ON was chosen by Toronto in the first round of the 2024 NHL Draft, with the overall 31st pick.
