The Senators come into today’s game riding a two-game winning streak after beating the Toronto Maple Leafs in a home-and-away series of preseason games.

Tonight’s game comes just two days after the Senators’ first home preseason game, which saw the Sens win over the Maple Leafs by a score of 2-1. Defenceman Jake Sanderson opened the scoring for the Senators in the first period to tie the game 1-1, and following a scoreless second, forward Zack Ostapchuk netted the game-winning goal shorthanded in the third period.
The Senators will be facing a depleted Sabres line up tonight, as most of Buffalo’s team is in Munich, Germany to play an exhibition game against Red Bull Munich of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga on Friday. Despite the fact that they’re missing most of their main roster, Ottawa won’t be taking the Sabres lightly.

“I don’t think it changes at all,” said defenceman Carter Yakemchuk when asked about the Senators’ game plan regarding Buffalo’s line up. “I’ll still try to do everything I did the first game and keep playing my game. No matter who’s on the ice, I want to go play my best and showcase myself the best I can.”
“I’m just going to worry about my game and our game as the Senators,” forward Shane Pinto said in a similar sentiment. “I don’t think it matters who we play, we just want to play a good game. If we play a good game, we’ll win.”
