With WWE’s Monday Night Raw at Amerant Bank Arena this week, it was only natural to have the Florida Panthers as part of the celebration, specifically Panthers legend and Hockey Hall of Famer Roberto Luongo.

The ex-NHL goalie, who is now a part of the Panthers’ front office, had his name engraved on the Stanley Cup for the first time following the last season’s championship. He returned to the arena on Monday for the first time since their Game 7 triumph.

“Seeing the banners still up gives me some nice feelings right now,” Luongo said in an interview with Jackie Redmond.

As Luongo was discussing his forthcoming day with the Cup (on Wednesday), his interview was interrupted by WWE wrestler and known hockey enthusiast, CM Punk, who is also a Chicago Blackhawks fan.

Naturally, he remembered the 2011 Stanley Cup First Round where the Vancouver Canucks, Luongo’s ex-team, and the Blackhawks faced off. The Canucks emerged victorious after seven games.

“Didn’t quite manage to repeat our success in the 2011 playoffs,” CM Punk humorously commented, “but we didn’t do too badly.”

Even with a hint of rivalry, CM Punk rapidly congratulated Luongo on ultimately getting his name on the Cup.

“I’m incredibly pleased,” CM Punk conveyed to Luongo. “It’s genuinely awesome witnessing deserving people receive their due.”

Pat McAfee, the host, gave a shoutout to Luongo who was watching the event ringside. Luongo revealed that he grew up watching WWE.
