The VGK Road Trip in 2024 is brought to you by Las Vegas.
The 2024 VGK Road Trip, sponsored by Las Vegas, started in Jackson, Wyo, where various city events were designed to provide the Golden Knights’ experience to a key city in the team’s TV market.
Thursday morning saw VGK broadcaster Ashali Vise and Gordon Weigers, co-author of ‘It Hurts To Win: The Official Inside Story of the 2022-23 Stanley Cup Champion Vegas Golden Knights,’ join the VGK staff at Teton County Library. They read segments from the book to families, enlightening them about the team’s first championship victory.

The VGK staff dedicated two hours at the Snow King Sports & Events Center to train over 100 young hockey players of various ages. The Golden Knights experience was given to these kids as they participated in drills and scrimmages across the rink in an assortment of jerseys. Off the ice, the children switched their skates for sneakers to engage in a game of ball hockey with the Vegas crew. Additionally, families who had registered for KnightTime+ were able to choose from a range of Golden Knights rewards such as flags, luggage tags, and other team souvenirs.

The bus left Jackson on Friday morning and reached Yellowstone National Park at 11:50, perfectly timed to see the scheduled eruption of Old Faithful at 12:10. However, as it’s always the case, nature followed its own timetable and the famous geyser shot water high into the sky at 12:07. The 17 VGK staff members on the trip, dressed in black and gold, watched this natural spectacle together. What impeccable timing! It would be easy to overlook that KnightTime+ brings Golden Knights hockey to anyone situated in the majestic Yellowstone National Park, as Wyoming is part of the Golden and Ice Realm.
As the cell service started to waver, the group enjoyed the breathtaking views, accompanied by the music of Luke Combs, Deorro, Pitbull and more playing from the bus speakers. It’s a mystery how anyone could sleep amidst the lively atmosphere, as the group carried forward the energy and momentum from their fruitful trip to Jackson en route to Billings, Mont.
Deryk Engelland, a VGK Alumni, will be joining the group at Centennial Ice Arena on Saturday morning. The on-ice clinics will start at 9 a.m. MT.
