Two players, who were absent for most of the previous season, are demonstrating in the pre-season that they could be considered as new additions for the Blues.

Christopher Nkunku and Romeo Lavia are evidently eager to compensate for their lost time. They joined Chelsea during the chaotic, high-spending summer of 2023 for a total of £110 million ($141m). However, they spent most of the previous season on the bench, observing their colleagues struggle under Mauricio Pochettino.

Following an untimely pre-season injury, Nkunku could only manage 14 appearances in all competitions. Lavia was even less fortunate, as an injury-ridden campaign limited him to a solitary 32-minute cameo in December.

As a new season approaches, two players who have patiently awaited their opportunity to shine are finally seeing positive prospects. Both have demonstrated exceptional performance in the pre-season and appear prepared to become significant players at Stamford Bridge. The newly appointed head coach, Enzo Maresca, could be perfectly positioned to benefit from their success.
