Braves @ Diamondbacks Analysis & Breakdown

The Diamondbacks are currently 3.5 games back of the Padres for a Wild Card spot.

The Braves don’t seem to resemble the team we witnessed last year. Acuna Jr’s injury significantly impacted Atlanta, but the unexpected drop in performance from players such as Austin Riley and Matt Olson was surprising.

Last year, Olson scored 54 home runs and registered 139 RBI. It was not anticipated that he would reproduce the same monumental figures, yet current projections suggest Olson will end the year with fewer than half the home runs and a substantial decrease in RBI.

Riley’s decline hasn’t been as significant, but his numbers are still lower.

Arizona’s coming off a World Series appearance but currently sit 3.5 games out of a Wild Card spot. It’s a similar place to where they were last season, but the play of their youngster Corbin Carroll is concerning.

Last season, he completed 155 games with 25 home runs and 75 RBI. However, his performance this season has been rough. So far, he has scored 3 home runs and 25 RBI in 89 games, with a batting average of 0.210. Despite the tough start, the focus for the young player is not on how he starts, but on how he finishes.
