A number of potential contenders will be participating in this week’s Genesis Scottish Open to get in some competitive practice before the Open Championship, which is scheduled to take place next week at Royal Troon.

The Renaissance Club in North Berwick, a 7,237-yard, par-70 course, is hosting the tournament for the sixth year in a row.

Rory McIlroy secured his first win at the Genesis Scottish Open last year, narrowly beating Scotsman Robert MacIntyre by one stroke with his 15-under 265.

So far, the only individuals to have won the Scottish Open multiple times are Ian Woosnam, the 1991 Masters winner and former world number one, with victories in 1987, 1990, and 1996, and Ernie Els, a four-time major champion and former world number one, who triumphed in 2000 and 2003.

Rory McIlroy (+900)

Genesis Scottish Open Winner Pick: Xander Schauffele (+900)

In last year’s Scottish Open, Schauffele shot a final-round 74 and tied for 42^nd. With how well he has been playing this season, don’t expect a similar result this year.

If you’re hesitant to designate him as your winner choice, consider securing him for a top-five finish (+225), a top-ten finish (+120), or possibly even a top-20 finish (-150), despite the juice.

Tommy Fleetwood to finish in the top 20 (+110)

Fleetwood has landed in the top 20 for his last three tournaments, with a high likelihood of making it a fourth consecutive week. His performance in the last two Genesis Scottish Opens has been commendable, securing a tie for fourth place in 2022 and a tie for sixth the previous year.

Tom Kim to finish in the top 20 (+150)

Two weeks ago, Kim’s performance at the Rocket Mortgage Classic was surprisingly below par, failing to make the cut despite entering as the tournament favorite. However, anticipate a significant improvement at the Renaissance Club, where he placed sixth last year and managed to secure third place in 2022.

Robert MacIntyre to finish in the top 20 (+210)

MacIntyre’s first complete season on the PGA Tour has been quite a journey. He emerged victorious at the RBC Canadian Open last month and secured the eighth spot at the PGA Championship. However, he also missed the cut nine times.

Back on home soil, MacIntyre should have a positive week this week. At the Renaissance Club last year, he shot a final-round 64, but a bogey on the par-5 16^th cost him dearly.
