The win also signaled the conclusion of a three-match losing streak for the Guardians. However, Cleveland’s record stands at only 6-10 SU in their last 16 games and they have managed to secure consecutive away victories only once since the start of August. Therefore, it is unclear whether their recent victory was just a lucky break or a sign of improving form.

Concurrently, the Yankees seem to be on a downward spiral. Following a commendable 13-5 SU streak from July 27 to Aug. 16, the Bronx Bombers are currently on a three-game losing streak, having been outscored 16-7 overall. This underscores the necessity for enhancements in their offensive and defensive play.

Wednesday seems to be a fortunate day for New York, particularly for the Yankees. They have a solid 13-5 straight-up (SU) record in their last 18 Wednesday games. On the other hand, the Guardians are not so lucky, with a disappointing 2-5 SU track record in their most recent seven Wednesday matches.

Things haven’t gone well for the Guardians in their recent Wednesday matchups. 

Another favorable statistic for the Yankees is their 8-4 SU record in their last 12 encounters with the Guardians. Moreover, New York has managed to defeat Cleveland in seven of their last 10 games at Yankee Stadium.

We will watch to see if the current trend will persist as LHP Nestor Cortes is scheduled to start for the Yankees. The Over is also 3-0 in the last three Guardians-Yankees matchups as the AL juggernauts averaged 13.0 total runs in those contests and just combined for 14 less than 24 hours ago.

Given the unpredictability of both Cantillo and Cortes’ performances, it wouldn’t surprise me if we witness some fireworks in the Bronx tonight.
